Canvas Print is a durable type of fabric that is usually made of cotton or linen. An image can be printed on this canvas and stretched over a wooden frame to create a canvas photo print.

Wall Decor

The most common way is putting up your canvas print for your home wall decor. What better way to display your growing family, or your wedding portrait, with a grand canvas print on the living room wall. Apart from photos of yourself and loved ones, printing art decor for your wall is also an increasingly popular way to add character to your space.

Canvas Prints Vs Framed Prints

In modern decor, it’s common to mix canvas prints and framed prints. There’s a reason for that. Framed prints tie into the general decor of a room by connecting the color scheme with the frame. They also shift the mood of the photo or artwork with the type of frame chosen.

With a simple black or brown border frame, the focus remains on the artwork or photo. But more stylized frames like contemporary or traditional, bring out the character of the photo. When choosing frames, furniture and room decor are important to maintaining cohesion.

In comparison, canvas prints provide a more versatile approach when decorating a wall. You can add them with much less thought since the frame-less borders adapt to any style. The vibrant pops of color create new focal points that liven up the room you’re decorating.

Here are some important factors to consider when comparing the two:

Canvas Prints Framed Prints
  • Image printed is permanent
  • Canvas provides a different texture that adds color depth
  • Photos do not have a glare or reflection
  • Light in weight
  • Prints come in a glossy or matte finish
  • Can swap out many photos in a frame
  • Frames complement room decor
  • Photos can have a glare or reflection
  • Larger frames are heavy and can be difficult to transport
  • The bigger the image, the more expensive the frame

Common Questions About Canvas Prints:

How do I get my canvas print onto the wall?
There are several ways you can hang your canvas print on the wall.

1. Sawtooth / Alligator Hook
This method is easy and quick. All you need is to have a nail in the wall where the top of your canvas print will be. Simply hook on your canvas print to the nail.

2. Art Cable Hanging System
Another way is to install the cable hanging system onto the back of your canvas print. Attach the wire cable taut across the wooden canvas frame. Hang it from a nail or hook in the wall. No matter which canvas print sizes you’re getting, we have these cable hanging kits readily installed especially for you.

3. 3M Tape
This is a quick and easy solution. No nail or hook is needed! The 3M Command Large Picture Hanging Strips can really hold up a frame on the wall. Simply paste one of the sides to the wooden frame and the opposite side on the wall. The velcro surfaces between the two sides will seal the deal. However, this might be a temporary solution, as it will lose its stickiness once you remove any of the hanging strips.

Can You Frame Canvas Prints?
Canvas prints can be either framed or unframed, depending on your decor and preference for the room. The frames must be thick enough to contain the entire canvas print, however. You can also order framed canvas prints so that you don’t have to find the right frame later.

How do I care for my canvas print?
Firstly, ensure that your canvas print is displayed indoors only. Moisture and high humidity can cause damage to your canvas print. Keep it out of direct sunlight as this can cause the print to fade. If you’re looking to provide some lighting for the canvas, soft artificial light is the way to go. To maintain its cleanliness, softly dust it with a dry cloth or feather duster.

Will Canvas Fade Over Time?
Cloud Productions’ fade-resistant inks are created to last, but there are a few key things you can do to help preserve your canvas prints for as long as possible. First, you’ll want to keep all canvas prints out of direct sunlight. And if you really want your print to last, consider placing it behind protective glass or frame.
