A Celebration of Moment and Time: Portraiture for Business Owner Yuan Tai

While capturing moments of others, we explore not only the need for professional photography skills but also working with Event venues that are unique.

“To keep the photos interesting, keeping angles interesting, backdrop play a part too”

Today, we’ve put together an interesting collaboration to create more awesome photographs for everyone.
Yuan Tai (9)Cloud Productions Chief Photographer Irene recently had a Photo Shoot done for Yuan Tai, 8event Singapore. 8vent connects Venues and Event Organizers and here’s Yuan Tai sharing with us about his role in finding unique spaces for his clients and what he learnt in his business.

Who has been the biggest influence in your life? What lessons did that person teach you?
The biggest influence in my life has been Jesus Christ, my lord and savior. I’ve learnt how to become a better me, how to be more compassionate. I’ve also learnt how to empathize with people and to connect better with them. I’ve learnt how to humble myself and be open to suggestions or feedback to improve myself. I learn about courage in the face of adversity, strength and faith. Most of all, I learn to love myself and love others even more.
Yuan Tai (6)

What is your personality and what skills do you currently have?
I love to explore new places and meet new people. Being in the people business, I love to connect with people. I love to find out about what people do and learn from their experiences. I love to read and write too. This helps me in my business as I can look for fresh angles to promote events or venues, or to come up with interesting concepts for events.

What’s the Secret to your Client’s Happiness through your service?
I bring smiles to clients through being able to address their needs of finding a suitable venue. I also make sure that the event is delivered successfully and the guests all enjoyed themselves. Joy shared is joy doubled, and I will go the extra mile for my clients.
Yuan Tai (3)How has your life been different than what you’d imagined?
I was previously working in the retail line, doing events on the sideline. Starting out my own business was something that I wanted, but did not act on as I was in my own comfort zone. Fortunately, doing events is not something new. Nevertheless, being an entrepreneur is a new and tough experience. I am really blessed to have mentors and many helpful friends and business associates. Life is a really colourful journey with all these people in it, and I count my blessings.

Yuan Tai’s Kind Words:

I had the best experience with SG cloud productions. Irene was professional and made me feel at ease during the shoot. She gave good advice on how to be natural and let my emotions flow. She was meticulous and attentive to details. She was able to explain clearly what type of shots she was looking for, and the entire shoot was really enjoyable. The service provided by SG cloud is world class. I am confident that they will deliver above and beyond what every customer wants, as they have delivered for me.
– Yuan Tai, Director of 8Event

We look forward to working on many more interesting projects, just like this one.

How to Photograph Kids: A Parent’s Guide on Photos Freezing Moments!

How to take Great Photos of your Children : A Parent’s Guide on Freezing Photos Moments of your kids

Photographing children is fun, fast-paced and immensely rewarding.
Here are Cloud Productions’s top tips for capturing beautiful photos that your family will treasure for generations to come!

(1) Find the Best Light

There is an easy way to find the best light in any situation: The Hand Trick. Simply place your hand at the shooting spot of where your child’s face will be arranged at. Great light can be subtle. Small changes of angle or position can often have a dramatic effect. So when you’re out shooting, finding the best light for portrait photography can sometimes be difficult!
Cloud Productions Oudoor Photoshoot Love
Tips: Do not rely on Auto Mode function on any form of camera, including mobile phones.

(2) The Gear you’ll need

While some elements of taking photos improve by upgrading from a smartphone camera to a DSLR or mirrorless variant will offer even more improvement as you learn how to photograph children but don’t spend the diaper fund on a new camera just yet.

(3) Get down on their level

One of the biggest mistakes adults make when photographing kids is shooting from eye level. The problem is, you’re probably a lot taller than your kid; in every photo, you are looking down on them, which makes them look smaller than they actually are.
Cloud Productions Family Photography SentosaAvoid: Distracting background.

(4) Play!

You’ll have more success at photography and better, more creative photos, if you play like a kid while you are shooting kids. Don’t be afraid to get on the ground with your kids or tell them to do fun stuff, like make funny faces, leap, or act silly. When you play with them, they’ll let down their guard. Skip the “say cheese” and get real smiles by photographing while playing.

Tips: Frame your shots more creatively. Use Rule of Thirds to help you position the child away from the centre of the frame to make the shot more dynamic and encourage the viewer’s eye to rove around the frame.

(5) Get Outside

Unless you have access to a beautiful, light-filled room, the easiest place to photograph kids will be outside. The weather to avoid is overly sunny weather with harsh shadows and the heavy pouring wet weather.

Cloud Productions Oudoor Photoshoot LoveThe most flattering light can be found:
– On cloudy days
– In the shade, nearer to an opening

Avoid:
– Overhead light (especially mid-day sunlight)
– Patchy light shine over the face or head
– Strong, directional light that casts the harsh shadow of the face features

(6) Use High Shutter speed

Once kids start moving around, it can be hard to slow them down. If you find yourself taking pictures of a child on the move, be sure to use a shutter speed of at least 1/250 to avoid blurry photos. If you’re shooting with flash, be sure to not go over 1/250.
12314486_213822492286777_5702411679513173986_o

(7) Use a Low f-stop

When shooting portraits, it’s good practice to use a low f-stop and avoid wide-angle lenses. (We recommend a 50mm lens) This will help blur the background and make your subject pop. If you don’t have a DSLR, you can get a similar effect using Portrait mode on the iPhone 7 Plus, which uses two lenses to create a blurred background.
12371074_213822098953483_3981422907178083392_o

(8) Anticipate their mood
Children are moody little creatures. If they’re sleepy, hungry or hyped up on sugar, the most angelic kids are liable to become nightmare photography subjects. Do your best to control for these factors when planning a shoot. If you know something that consistently brings a smile to your child’s face, be it playing in the yard or eating chocolate ice cream, use it to your advantage.

props for family photoshoot singapore (10)

(9) Capture the moment

Kids are often at their cutest when they don’t realize they’re being photographed. Instead of orchestrating a picture, keep your camera handy and start shooting when the moment is right. It’s worth investing in a good camera & lens, so you can easily capture the action anytime anyday.

A Celebration of Moment and Time: Portraiture for Business Owner Andy Wee

As a Photographer, we would be hired for images for the majority of the time.

Upon request and on-going ideas, we’ve put together an interesting collaboration to create more awesome photographs for everyone.

Cloud Productions Chief Photographer Irene recently had a Photo Shoot done for Andy, FertilityCare Singapore and we’re curious about his successful business. For the last 10 years, FertilityCare has helped numerous couples make babies with the help of natural fertility techniques. It does sound like a really challenging role as well as satisfying career making a new life.

Upon conversation, Andy shared with us a little more about himself and his business.

What’s your background?
I’m an electrical engineer by training. 11 years ago, I went to Australia to train as a FertilityCare Practitioner to bring the Creighton Model FertilityCare Natural Fertility Programme to Singapore. This program addresses the couple’s needs for a natural fertility treatment method. I’ve been married for the last 16 years and am a father for 4.

What was the happiest moment of your business?
In my business, the journey with each couple can be rather long, from the time we start from the first meeting till the time we see results, the time taken could be easily 6-12 months or longer. The happiness moment is when the couple whom I have journeyed with finally sees the birth of the child after being through the program and the 9.5 months of pregnancy. The joy of them receiving their new born brings me the greatest happiness.

What’s the Secret to your Client’s Happiness through your service?
The secret is for them to pick up the knowledge which I’m teaching them effectively. As I journey with them in the Natural Fertility Program, when they start to see all the knowledge about their body, its function and the beauty of its design, it brings them a great understanding and calmness.

fertility check up singapore doctor infertility clinic solve help problem (14)

What are you proudest of in your Business?
I’m proudest of the knowledge and empowerment I impart to my couples in this Natural Fertility Program. The key for them is to become empowered and enlightened to the beauty of the design of the body and its various functions that lead to creation of a  their baby, a new human being.

How has your life been different than what you’d imagined?
My work has allowed me into a special area of the lives of each couple that I journey with in my program. I’m much privileged to hear their situation of emotional ups and downs as well as the challenges of their fertility journey. It has allowed me to help many people realise their dreams of having a baby, something that I have never imagined doing. I’m grateful for this opportunity and continue to look forward to help more couples. For more info, refer to: http://fertilitycare.com.sg/site/getting-started/how-fertilitycare-can-help-your-fertility-situation/

Andy’s Kind Words:

It was a sunny morning where I met Photographer Irene for the Photoshoot, Irene invited me to share about the background of myself and my work as she prepared to take photographs of me and my materials. With her professional guidance, we looked for suitable spots in the place we were in to best bring out the suitable image that aligns to my business. She took time to ensure I was relaxed, at the same time able to bring out the joy I have in doing my work so that it can be projected in the photos taken. It was an enjoyable experience chatting with Irene as we took photos in various poses and angles to find and capture the best sides of me. Overall, it was a fruitful experience for the photoshoot and look forward to sharing these and more about my business with my friends and business associates.

5 Tips for Outdoor Portrait Photography in Singapore!

A family portrait session has so many factors that can go wrong that it feels like a small miracle each time we capture a beautiful image. It’s worth the effort, though—a striking, happy photograph of a growing family is perfect for our customers and for that it can become an heirloom that is enjoyed and passed down for generations.

Cloud Productions Oudoor Photoshoot Love

The key is to acknowledge and then prepare and minimize the risks. When photoshooting family portrait session, follow our few tips, and you’ll be on your way to have gotten beautiful happiness within images.

1. PLAN YOUR LOCATION WISELY

Nobody wants to stand in the hot sun for a long time. Likewise, we can’t control the weather, so include a Plan B when you book with us,  a backup date or simply a location switch that includes both outdoor and indoor for covered options for shooting would be sufficient.

View some of the Locations we recommend for the Good Outdoor Backdrops!

2. BRING THE RIGHT CLOTHING

Keeping the wardrobe on a theme or go with a more neutral look is a good planning. Festive holiday attire or even ugly Christmas sweaters can be fun, but that’s not relevant all year-round.

It’s a good idea to have everyone bring a backup outfit if your Photoshoot exceeds 2hr, especially for kids.

View some of the other Great Tips we have for you here!

Cloud Productions Oudoor Photoshoot Love

3. PREP THE KIDS

This is the most important tip for with family photoshoot. Prep your kids for the shoot, beginning days in advance. Build it up to be a fun event that they look forward to, followed by a treat, like ice cream or a visit to the playground before or after the Photoshoot. Let your kids know about it, and get them excited for it!

While the anticipation factor is important, the same day buildup is even more crucial. Children should arrive with full bellies! Hungry children are unhappy children.

4. KEEP KIDS ENGAGED DURING THE PHOTOSHOOT

Bring a treat or snack for the kids, offer children with small bribe! Often, the best pictures of children occur in the first 20 to 30 minutes of a shoot. For children who are more shy, the best pictures and expression usually opens up after the first 30-45 minutes.

5. STAY ON THE MOVE

Even adults can quickly get tired of having their photo taken, forgotten about their pose and smiles. It is important to remind oneselves, to keep your smile going till the last photo of the session.

Capturing the perfect family portrait is not an easy task! But with the right planning and prep, you’ll discover that capturing happy families at its very best is incredibly magical and rewarding.

Other Tips:
Booking Timing Recommendation:
7.30 to 9.30am – Less Heat cause by the Sunlight
9.30 to 11.30am – If you like it bright and Sunny
4.30 to 5.30pm – Still bright and getting less hot
5.30 to 7.30pm – The Sun is setting!

Don’t fight with the Weather man.
If it’s going to be too windy and dull due to upcoming Rain situation, then it is worth for a postpone if Professional Photographers say so. You won’t want your photos to look bad, the Professional won’t want it too. We can’t control the weather, but we can control our plannings together.

We’ve seen Awkward family photos leaping in the air, or even Families squeezing like Sandwich on the final photo outcome on other sites. To avoid those Awkward expression or poses, you may read this post on our site here.

What to do with your Pictures afterwards?
1 – Print, frame or pin up to your home walls. As part of your home decors and memories that you see everyday.

2- Give your child tiny Polaroid mockups of their favourite photo so that they can place in their wallet and appreciate it.

3- You can design the Photos on your Invitation Card for your Kid’s birthday parties too!

10 Simple Tips for Shooting Families Portrait

TIP #1: LIGHT WITH CARE
12356860_213825772286449_7325634622560523187_o Photographic lighting is the illumination of scenes. A photograph simply records patterns of light, colour, and shades; lighting is all-important in controlling the image. In many cases even illumination is desired to give an accurate rendition of the scene. Without Good lighting & exposure in the image, it'll cease to loose the Quality or unable to capture what is desired.
TIP #2: MAKE SURE NO ONE IS COVERED UP
 Cloud Productions Oudoor Photoshoot Love
Nobody likes to see missing person from Photos, maybe they are there yet un-noticing being blocked in that moment of photo being taken. It's good to have timeless moments, better with no one missing or covered in the picture.
TIP #3: LET EVERYONE UNFOLD NATURALLY / “HAVE FUN!”
Cloud Productions Oudoor Photoshoot LoveThe best expression came from the truthful side of human beings. The comfortable reactions comes from us being Natural. Not everyone likes Posey shots, and some may prefer Candid shots. While there's freedom to express deep within the Heart of oneself. Let people have fun, free themselves from posing stressfully and let them express naturally!
TIP #4: CAPTURE "THAT" MOMENT
Cloud Productions Oudoor Photoshoot LoveMost natural moments happened just once, and never come back again like the one before. Everyone must have heard about this phrase (YOLO) you only live once. Same goes to photography, what we reckon is (MOCO) Moments only comes once... shoot it at the Right time before it's gone. Memories stays in that timeless moment.
TIP #5: APPLY COMPOSITION TECHNIQUE / RULE

 ASL (61)
A Photo without Composition technique is a Photo without the tool to tell a Story of its Moment alive. There are no fixed rules, there are only guidelines and they are there for a reason. Some may love to break the rules even before they know or understand why the rules were made for. Composition Techniques and Rules often help Photographers in enhancing the impact of Photographs, and to a scientific extend it involve Golden ratio and how people are attracted by the proportion of the ratio being used or made.
TIP #6: CREATIVE IS ENOUGH, DON’T GET TOO “CHEESY” OR “AWKWARD”  IN POSING
 DSC_4915
Being Bold in creating Ideas is good, but not overdoing it. Some may be more suitable in certain idea and some may not. Give some time to think about what can be done best at its Natural state. View 5 Tips that will help you avoid Awkward Photos, click here.
TIP #7: WATCH WHAT'S AT THE BACK? PHOTOBOMB?
Cloud Productions Oudoor Photoshoot Love FamilyWhen it comes to Outdoor Photoshoots especially on the Weekend, it's knownly that prevention of the Crowd isn't any use. However, what can be done better is to create Photographs that consist of a better or nice looking Background. May apply Patterns in the background too, set as secondarily composition. Be at a area with lesser crowd & passerby. Focus your Subject & Keep away from Distractions.
TIP #8: KEEP THE QUALITY
familypsWe've seen many Photographers pushing ISO to 1600 or 3200 under daylight, compensating with probably high / small aperture and fast shutter speed. Probably in order to capture Children jumping or moving, however by doing so it adds distractions from the background due to the Aperture settings. That's for sure not the best choice for Camera Settings. It is important to use the right settings, technique & control during Photoshoot. To bring out the best in both creativity & quality in the final shots. A guideline for daylight Photography under the Sun would be ISO range 100-400 , Wide Aperture & a Shutter speed setting to compensate the speed of the Family movement. View Photography Cheatsheet, click here.
TIP #9: CREATE PATTERNS
Cloud Productions Oudoor Photoshoot FamilyMake do with shapes like "Triangles", "Circles", "Rectangulars" in your image. Notice those lines around or irregular shapes that may become part of your secondarily composition. It may enhance & contribute alittle to your negative space. And, they may also help enhance the outcome of the Photo.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST, TIP #10: DON'T KEEP TO ONE LENS : Know what your Equipment can do is important too. Creativity comes from not only the mind, but the form of Equipment used that brings the Photo Story to a higher level.
We hope you’ve enjoyed viewing the Tips! We would love to hear from you!

Top 10 New Year’s Resolutions for Parents & Families!

As we start the New Year again, it is important to reflect on the past year and remind ourselves of our good parenting successes and the ways that have acted in the best interests for children. For some inspiration and New Year’s resolution ideas, here are some examples of parenting resolutions, which we hope you will find realistic and doable throughout the new year.

Top 10 New Year’s Resolutions for Parents & Families:

1. Say “Yes” More. Try saying “yes” more to spending quality family time and doing things together. Some Ideas on Quality time with Families:

  • Sharing & Reading books.
  • Dancing or singing together.
  • Sitting by your infant and watching and encouraging as he/she grabs over and over again for a slightly out-of-reach object.
  • Watching in delight as your toddler dumps out and fills containers with toys or practices going up and down a stair or two again and again, while you offer your verbal and nonverbal encouragement.

familyp

2. Worry Less. Keeping kids safe should be a priority, but don’t let your worries about all the large and small highly sensationalized harm that exists out there drive your life. The overwhelming odds are with you. Instead, find ways to make your kid’s world safer and let them actively explore what’s around them.

Baby and Child Proofing

It’s easy to become desensitized to unsafe conditions. Safe settings depend on adults being vigilant about safety concerns:

  • Check toys, equipment and furnishing for rough, broken, or unsafe parts
  • Keep in mind that babies will use anything available to pull themselves up to stand, to hold on to while walking, or to climb on. Equipment needs to be secure and heavy enough so that babies cannot cause it to fall.
  • Ensure that there are proper surfaces under climbing equipment to cushion falls over 36 inches.
  • Cover electrical outlets.
  • Make heaters and fans inaccessible.
  • Install child-proof railings and banisters on stairs and other raised areas.
  • Make sure that medications, purses, cleaning supplies, and other potentially unsafe materials are out of the reach of children.
  • Ensure that floor surfaces, both indoors and out, are non-skid, especially in areas that get wet or covered with sand.
  • Have places where young infants can safely watch or play safely.
  • Observe the environment throughout the day for hazards (e.g., toys on the floor).

3. Negotiate Less; Explain More. Kids deserve to know the thinking behind our decisions and expectations, but should not be equal partners at the bargaining table.

4. Read a Little More. It’s not only a good way to spend time together, but reading to your child, with your child, and in front of your child will also help them grow as readers.

  • Make reading time a more engaging, enjoyable and enriching learning experience
  • Identify high quality children’s literature and pick the right books for your child(ren)
  • Master storytelling techniques to make books come to life

5. Write a Little More. Get in the habit of writing notes of encouragement, love, recognition, responsibility, and daily appreciation of life.

KidsParty (21)

6. Expect a Little More. In the new year, expect more from your children, like good behavior, responsibility, manners, kindness, and all of the goodness that lies within your kids. And provide rewards for your Children after their archievements. (Eg. Birthday Parties)

d (12)

KidsParty (67)

7. Expect a Little Less. Be okay with a little less constant scheduling and enrichment filled days. Slow down, you move too fast. Children need a lot of slow to grow. Create a daily schedule for your kids, as well as yourself, that is more balanced and realistic.

8. Connect More. Take steps to maintain friendships /relationships, and stay connected with family, the community, those less fortunate, and the natural world.

1.-making-them-memories-picture-quote

9. Create Sweet & Unforgettable Memories. We all love a good trip down memory lane in our homes, where we sees it everyday. Sometimes all it takes is to create some time for bonding and capture those memories down. Every day happen ones, so try making everyday as fulfilling as possible but plan that one or two day to Capture your Memories. =)
